Westport Historical Society Celebrates Tomorrow’s History with a Gala

Party like it’s 2067! Westport Historical Society transforms Design Within Reach, 154 Post Road East, Westport, into the hottest venue in town for one night only, on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 pm.

“We are throwing a bash for the Westport community, with a creative view toward our future,” says Bob Mitchell, WHS Board president. “This first annual gala celebrates where we’ve been and envisions where we want to go.”

The forward-looking event coincides with 06880+50, a new exhibit of local architects’ creative imaginings of Westport 50 years in the future, opening at WHS on Friday, Sept. 22.

WHS has created a vibrant plan to launch a new and improved organization that will continue to be an integral part of the Westport community by making history come alive in contemporary ways.

At Tomorrow’s History Gala, enjoy offerings from local chefs and mixologists – including a Prosecco bar and specialty drinks past, present, and future – as well as live music and “future-tellers” like Tarot- and palm-readers. Bid on treasures ranging from local gourmet restaurant feasts to exclusive private tours and experiences such as Philip Johnson’s Glass House, a catered sunset yacht cruise, a long weekend on Cape Cod, and a wine tasting. Own an original Larry Silver (Gala honoree) photograph or a unique Westport lenticular artwork by Miggs Burroughs.

Meet special celebrity guest, Westporter Melissa Joan Hart, best known as a multi-award-winning actress and film director. Be entertained by the rock stars of our future from Fairfield School of Rock.

To date, generous supporters include lead sponsor BNY Mellon Wealth Management; gala sponsors Leifer Properties, First County Bank, Catamount Wealth Management, Raymond James, TD Bank and Resnick Advisors; annual sponsors Schnurmacher Foundation; Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C.; Sachs Walsh Insurance, Maplewood Senior Living, and Brown’s Monument Works; and WHS Board and Advisory Council members Ed Gerber, Chris and Jim Corgel, Cheryl Bliss, Alicia D’Anna, Joni and Nigel Andrews, Jay Dirnberger and Robert Mitchell.

Tickets: $125
