After a chance meeting at a birthday party, Alex and Sarah received the gift of a lifetime—each other. The two became a couple and dated for four years when, during a picnic at the Cloisters, Alex made a unique proposal. He had placed the engagement ring in Sarah’s tuna fish sandwich. One bite and he had her, hook, line and sinker (and thankfully she didn’t swallow the ring). Dr. Sheldon Moss officiated at the ceremony at The Estancia LaJolla Hotel & Spa in California, where the reception followed.

The bride, daughter of Dr. Robert and Barbara Ziering of California, graduated from Frances W. Parker School and the University of Michigan. Sarah works in marketing for IMG Worldwide in New York.

The groom, son of Stuart and Suzanne Katz of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School, Boston University and Yeshiva University. Alex works in accounting at Ernst & Young.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Antigua and the south of France before returning home to New York.
