Featured Description (from the owner)
The Harvard Business School Club of Connecticut, in conjunction with Porsche Greenwich, has awarded its biennial Community Partners “Turbo” Award to Curtain Call Inc. of Stamford in support of their new dedicated Children’s Theatre Initiative.
The award, which promotes excellence and innovation in nonprofit organizations, will be presented at Porsche Greenwich on July 7 at a reception hosted by Jim Rulmyr, Chair of Community Partners’ Awards Committee, and Porsche Greenwich’s General Manager, Rui Moreira. Accepting the award for Curtail Call will be Executive Director Lou Ursone and Board Chair Ted Yudain, Esq.
The $20,000 “Turbo” award allows Curtain Call to hire a director, music director, set, lighting, costume designers, and actors for their Children’s Theatre Initiative. Seed money from the Award will also cover scenic costs and lighting rentals and will allow Curtain Call to provide this program for four-to-six performances over two weekends in the Fall of 2022 (and hopefully to continue offering Children’s Theatre in future years too).
The purpose of Curtain Call’s Children’s Theatre Initiative is to reach the underserved, young population of Stamford, Connecticut and nearby towns, with what will likely be their first exposure to live theatre. Traditional children's theatre fare - fairy tales, etc. – will eventually be supplemented with issue-related programming, including race relations and bullying. To learn more about Curtain Call’s Children’s Theatre Initiative, as well as its other programs, please visit www.curtaincallllc.org.
The purpose of the “Turbo” Award is to motivate nonprofits to consider how they could use an extra $20,000 to "turbocharge" what they do for their constituencies. Funds can be used either to improve an existing program, to launch a new initiative, or to enhance overall organizational effectiveness. Since the “Turbo” Award’s inception, over $150,000 has been awarded to local nonprofits via this program. HBS Club of Connecticut Community Partners is proud to co-fund this award with Porsche Greenwich.
